Summery
In the late summer of 2017, the City of Saskatoon Bridge Inspector determined that there was a void under the bridge approach at the south end of the overpass. Each time a bus or heavy truck entered the overpass the road bed would flex under the weight.
Problem
Liftech Concrete Leveling was contracted to fill the void using our Polyurethane Foam injection process. Liftech filled the void under both the northbound and southbound lanes using 1102 pounds of HMI's 401 polyurethane foam.
Solution
Due to the volume of material needed and the vibrations from traffic on the roadways above and below, the engineers determined that traditional mudjacking material was no longer an option. Liftech was able to fill the void only blocking one lane at a time so traffic was able to continue to use the overpass. The road bed is now supported with the polyurethane product and there is no deflection observed when heavy traffic enters the overpass.
